Interior scope builder
A quote you can judge has three things in it: quantities, specifications and exclusions. Twelve running feet of wardrobe in a named board, not bedroom wardrobes. This builds that list for your flat so the quotes you get back are comparable.
Your scope
Wardrobes Specify: Board type and brand, finish, shutter type, internal fittings | 12 running ft |
Modular kitchen Specify: Carcass and shutter material, counter, hardware brand, tall units | 10 running ft |
TV unit and storage Specify: Material, finish, whether wall mounted or floor standing | 8 running ft |
Beds with storage Specify: Size, storage type, headboard finish | 2 nos |
False ceiling Specify: Full or peripheral, cove lighting, material | 300 sq ft |
Painting Specify: Paint brand and grade, number of coats, putty included or not | 1200 sq ft |
Electrical points Specify: New points versus shifted, switch brand, load upgrade needed | 20 nos |
- Civil work, if any wall is being moved
- Electrical load upgrade
- Plumbing changes beyond the existing points
- Loose furniture, curtains and appliances
- Society charges, debris removal and lift usage
- Any work needed to make good after the previous tenant
- Is the scope written in quantities, not as a lump sum?
- What is explicitly excluded?
- Who supervises the site day to day, and how often do they visit?
- What is the completion date, and what happens if it slips?
- Can I see a finished flat you did nearby, not a rendering?
- What is the payment schedule tied to, stages delivered or dates?
Why this one is different
Most interior quotes arrive as a single number for the whole flat. That number cannot be compared against another single number, because you cannot see what either one contains, and the cheaper one automatically looks better whether it is or not.
The other calculators on this subject give you a price estimate in exchange for your phone number. This gives you a document instead. Take it to three designers and the quotes that come back can be laid side by side.
There are no prices on it, and that is deliberate rather than a gap. We have not published cost bands we can stand behind, and an invented range would anchor you on a number that is not real. Ask us what these quantities cost in Borivali right now and you will get a real answer for your flat.
Common questions
- Why does this not show me a price?
- Because we have not published cost bands we can stand behind, and a made up range is worse than none: you would anchor on it and then be surprised. The quantities are the part that protects you, and they are what a designer needs to quote properly.
- What should an interior quote include?
- Quantities in running feet, square feet and unit counts, the specification for each item including board and hardware brands, and an explicit list of what is excluded. Without those three a quote cannot be compared with another.
- How much advance is normal for interior work?
- Advances are normal, large advances before anything physical arrives on site are not. A payment schedule tied to delivered stages rather than to dates protects both sides: money moves when something arrives or is installed.
- Do I need society permission for interior work?
- In most Mumbai societies yes, and the rules on working hours, lift use and debris removal are set locally. Ask before work starts rather than after it is stopped halfway.
- How do I write a scope for an interior quote?
- Room by room, in quantities: running feet of wardrobe and kitchen, square feet of false ceiling and painting, counts of units and points, with a named material against each. That is what this tool produces. A quote given against that scope can be compared with another; a lump sum for the whole flat cannot.
